Korean Drama Update for July 2022

The romantic comedy Sh**ting Stars was the drama I got in for the month of July. Here’s how it went:

Sh**ting Stars Korean Drama - Kim Young Dae and Lee Sung KyungSh**ting Stars

Sh**ting Stars was an okay drama for me. It was like a rom-com/entertainment slice of life hybrid. It had it’s pluses and was a nice enough watch, but it also had it’s cons. There are several romances to enjoy with humor and a little behind the scenes look at the entertainment industry. Things pick up in the second half in the drama department.

The show wasn’t particularly engaging though and was lacking in story with one-note characters. It was still a decent enough watch and can work for you if want something mostly light-hearted with a focus on multiple relationships and a few more serious issues. (Sh**ting Stars Review)

So how was July for you?

Happy drama watching to everyone!

    I finished one drama in July 2022:
    Heard It Through The Grapevine – a satirical look at the lifestyle and attitudes of a rich and influential family whose routine is disrupted when the son and heir gets involved with a smart girl from an ordinary family.

    Currently watching:
    Alchemy Of Souls – please do not crash and burn!
    Another Oh Hae Young – don’t let the breezy music fool you: this is a thoughtful depiction of an ordinary woman who shares a name with a seemingly glamorous classmate and coworker.

      I hope you enjoyed Heard It Through the Grapevine. I’ve heard good things about it 🙂 Also hearing lots of good things about Alchemy of Souls. Another Oh Hae Young was a very interesting watch for me when it came out 🙂

    Hi Kay – you got a breezy one this month. I watched the following (I think I watch too many dramas). 🙂
    * Our Blues
    * My Liberation Notes
    * Remarriage & Desires
    * Twenty Five Twenty One
    I enjoyed Remarriage & Desires the most followed by Our Blues. My Liberation Notes was boring and I hated the ending of Twenty Five Twenty One, I was so angry with myself for watching this. Up to episode 13 was really good so it was such a shame.

      You’re always keeping busy with your dramas! (It’s never too many! lol 😂😂) I’m glad Remarriage & Desires and Our Blues went well for you. Too bad about My Liberation Notes and Twenty Five Twenty One. It sounds like most people liked Twenty Five Twenty One, but I heard mixed things about the ending.

    I finished The Greatest Love – older drama that’s been on my watchlist forever. If you like the old traditional stuff this one fits the bill for an okay watch.

    Yumi Cells 2 – felt too much like a re-hash of the original with a different male lead. Ended without resolution so I’m hoping a season 3 is in the works to finish the story.

    My Liberation Notes – not sure what to say about this drama. It was such a slow burn and would be fair to say boring but I ended up loving every minute of it. I binged a few hours every night and didn’t watch all the other stuff I had going because i had to see how each story would play out. I had not seen the male lead before but now I’m hooked and need to seek out anything else he’s done or will do in the future. The stories felt more “real” than what we normally see in kdramas. Never really understood why the kids didn’t move out sooner but then I guess there wouldn’t be a story.

    Currently watching Once Again, Jinxed, Alchemy, and Today’s Webtoon. I watched a couple episodes of Welcome to Wedding Hell but dropped due to lack of interest. Waiting for Kay’s review to determine if to pick up again.

      The Greatest Love is definitely a great example of that older classic style. I liked it when I watched some years back. Yumi’s Cells 2 will be up next for me.

      I hope you keep loving Alchemy of Souls. It looks like a lot of fun! 🙂
