Touch Your Heart Korean Drama - Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na

I got in a few new dramas for the month of April, and they were all mostly enjoyable. It was the super cute rom-com Touch Your Heart, the legal slice of slice Miss Hammurabi, and the opposites rom-com Clean With Passion For Now:

Touch Your Heart Korean Drama - Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In NaTouch Your Heart

The legal romantic comedy Touch Your Heart gave us the highly anticipated reunion of our famed Goblin couple played by Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na. Thankfully, their amazing chemistry carried over, and they gave us such a sweet and fun romance. Lee Dong Wook’s stoic attitude contrasts perfectly with Yoo In Na’s bright and sunny disposition. They were both actually pretty adorable!

The legal side of the drama was more low key, but it was engaging enough and rounded things out nicely. Touch Your Heart is basic in its formula, but it did what a romantic comedy needs to do most by completely selling our main couple. Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na’s fantastic chemistry coupled with an adorable relationship journey made the drama quite enjoyable. Then add in that little bit of angst and a dash of thrills, and everything balanced out well. (Touch Your Heart Review)

Miss Hammurabi

Legal slice of life is definitely not a genre that I gravitate towards, but it turns out that I actually quite liked Miss Hammurabi. It’s a very emotionally engaging show that portrays the cases well and nicely connects them to the main characters. L, Go Ara, and Sung Dong Il were each great and gave me interesting and complex characters. There’s also a low-key but very meaningful friendship and romance portrayed between L and Go Ara.

Miss Hammurabi defied the odds and kept me interested all the way through. It gave me fantastic characters, a great script, and it tackled a lot of complicated topics. Although I will never be a lover of this genre, it just goes to show that you never know when a drama will come along and present itself in a slightly different way that will win you over and leave you more than satisfied. Clean With Passion For Now

Clean With Passion For Now is an easy romantic comedy that is plot light. It’s mostly fun with plenty of cute, but it is slow at times with some pacing issues. Although the drama keeps a lighter vibe, I thought it blended the humorous and serious elements well. There was plenty of comedy and fun to add joy, but then there were some very emotional and heartrending moments.

It focuses on mental health issues such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in the form of germophobia. Although the illness is the source for a lot of humor and not always completely accurate, it does a fair job of bringing attention to the disorder by showing the mental and physical toll it brings. But this is a rom-com, and the show’s simple and humorous side is what the drama does best. It has a sweet couple that deliver plenty of adorable couple moments on their journey to love. Hi Kay – out of the three you watched, I have not seen Miss Hammurabi. I read your review. Perhaps, I will check it out one day. It doesn’t sound too bad from your review.

I watched the following in April:
    Touch Your Heart
    Money Flower
    Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

Hi D 🙂 Yes, for a legal slice of life drama, Miss Hammurabi was quite good. Considering it’s one of my least favorite genres, that’s an accomplishment, lol.

Ooh, looks like you got in several good ones this month. Did you enjoy them all?

LOL!! I know. I don’t like them either myself. hence I’m reluctant.

Yes I enjoyed them all. They were all really good in their own ways.

I completely understand being hesitant. It definitely is very much legal slice of life, and because of that I did find it slow at times. But the characters and their personal stories were just so good that it really made up for that. I would just make sure you’re in the right mood if you decide to try it. If I was in the mood for a rom-com or a melo and sat down to watch this, I wouldn’t have been happy, hehe.

Glad you enjoyed all the dramas you watched. Money Flower was one of my favorite dramas last year. It was a bit underrated among the international population, so I’m happy to see it get some love 🙂

Ahh ok. Thanks for the heads up re Miss Hammurabi. I will do that.

Re Money Flower – yeah you are right. It wasn’t very popular. I decided to check it out because I heard it was the same director as The Crowned Clown. Then I saw your review and so I decided to give it a go. Jang Hyuk was wonderful and second male lead was really good too. I did like it quite a bit. Thanks for recommending another great drama. 😃

Haha, aside from Yeo Jin Goo being my main reason to watch, I was excited that the Money Flower PD would be directing The Crowned Clown 🙂 I knew it would be in good hands.

Yes, Jang Hyuk was wonderful as always, although I thought his performance was particularly great in Money Flower. Just so nuanced and exceptional. It was my first time seeing Jang Sung Jo and I thought he was great too. He really made me warm up to his character, and I was left wanting to see more dramas from him. I wish Money Flower would have gotten more attention internationally, but at least it did pretty well in Korea and Jang Hyuk was recognized for his acting in it 🙂

I only have finished one single drama last month, and it’s the great 2016 medical drama that I had been wanting to see since a long time ago. 😀 And finally had the chance and it was such a nice experience. Having to watch another medical drama, a genre that I don’t typically like, it was a good medical melodrama. And having such a great actress like Seo Hyun Jin in it is such a plus factor. And her romance with the charming Yoo Yeon Seok is such a gem. And there are a lot of beautiful people in that unique hospital. 🙂 I am giving that drama an 8.5/10.

Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim is one medical drama I have kept on my list since it got such high praise and is also a melodrama. Since I to am not really fan of medical dramas, it will take a very specific mood for me to finally watch it. But I plan to at some point. It’s wonderful that you enjoyed it so much 🙂

You should at least try it. The first episode is very hookable that you cannot say no to the next ones. 🙂

Oh wow, you’ve got a good group of dramas you are currently watching. I’m interested to hear what you think of several of them. Good upcoming ones too.

Aww, I love that you are re-watching Lucky Romance! That drama got so much hate, but I really liked it. Hwang Jung Eum is one of my favs and I just thought the story was both sweet and moving. Hope you enjoy the re-watch 🙂

Thank you, Kay. I actually am on hiatus in my watching. It’s for about two weeks already, because I got sick, and been absent too with my work. My body gave in for awhile. And today I am planning to restart my K-drama antennas again. Hehe
