Devilish Joy Korean Drama - Choi Jin Hyuk and Song Ha Yoon

I was busy working on the end of the year stuff for the site, so I only completed two dramas in December. I’ve got a couple others well under way though. And the dramas I watched were both entertaining with the cute and fun Devilish Joy as well as the dramatic Bad Papa:

Devilish Joy Korean Drama - Choi Jin Hyuk and Song Ha YoonDevilish Joy

Devilish Joy may be filled with clichés and kdrama tropes, but it puts them all together in an entertaining way with an adorable romance, humor, and a decent plot. The first half of the drama was pretty simple and cute, but the plot really thickened up in the second half. The story really progressed nicely.

Choi Jin Hyuk and Song Ha Yoon were quite adorable together which gave us a super sweet romance. So with a nice romance and some meat in the story to beef up the drama, it was a pretty entertaining watch. (Devilish Joy Review)

Bad PapaBad Papa Korean Drama - Jang Hyuk

Bad Papa is such an underrated drama! It was a pleasant surprise, and I found it to be pretty different from most of the dramas out there. It was this odd mixture of family, melodrama, action, and sports. As always, Jang Hyuk was just amazing and gave a very multifaceted performance.

There were all kinds of things going on which kept the drama interesting all of the time. The show touches on a lot of family issues and did well at showing them from each of the members’ perspectives. I liked seeing the relationships play out and was very interested in all of the characters.

And though there was a good amount of dramatics, there was also some humor to lighten things up. The plot was so engaging from start to finish, and I loved all of the topics it hit upon. It made me laugh, cry, and experience so many emotions. Sometimes a drama comes along that surprises you, and Bad Papa was exactly that kind of drama. (Bad Papa Review)

So how was December for you?

Happy drama watching to everyone!

December is a busy month for us all I guess. 🙂
I am currently watching Memories of the Alhambra – I’m live watching this one because it’s available on Netflix. Finally a show I am actually enjoying available on Netflix. 🙂
I am also watching a CDrama called ‘Story of Yanxi Palace’.

I started watching Hymn of Death but I can’t do shows where people have affairs and so I have dropped it. This was so tempting as it looks very good.

I also started watching Twelve Night – way too slow for me but I might go back to it again.

I tried terribly hard to like fluttering warning but I could not go on even though I liked the leads. The story is so lame and so forcefully tropey it’s killing me. I like tropes when it’s done well – e.g. Devilish Joy.

Yay! I’m glad you found one to enjoy on Netflix 🙂 I can’t wait to start Memories of the Alhambra. Probably in a couple weeks. I’ve heard good things about Story of Yanxi Palace too. Added it to my list.

I watched Hymn of Death since I really like period pieces. It was an okay watch, but nothing to rave about. Probably would have been better as a longer series with more time to develop. Kdramas don’t do a lot of affair type stories, but since it was based on a true story, I’m guessing that’s why they kept it.

I’m currently watching Twelve Nights. Really liked the first few eps, but yes, it is just so slow and only gets draggier! I’m on ep 10 and pretty bored with it. I plan to finish it though. Ready for better things though! hehe 🙂

I think you will like Alhambra too. Yay – I’m glad you added Yanxi to your list. It is really quite addictive but in saying that though I have only seen 11 episodes. As with many other CDramas I have picked up and dropped not sure if I will last till the end. LOL!!!

I’m glad to hear about Hymn and Twelve then. If Twelve gets even more draggier in later episodes then I might not go back to it. Thanks for telling me. Yes onto better things for sure. Next on my list is Mama fairy and the woodcutter.

On another note, I am so happy how Netflix now has so many KDramas – only problem is they come out so late. By then I have already watched the shows elsewhere.

I’m hopeful for Alhambra too 🙂 And yes, that’s always the bad part of cdramas…it’s really hard to keep the story good for so many episodes. Longest I’ve finished was 37 eps for a cdrama. I really liked it, but it still got draggy.

And yeah, I probably wouldn’t really recommend Twelve Nights. It’s soooo slow, and I think it just gets worse with each 4 ep arc. I really only hung in there because I dropped two dramas before it, and it was at least better than those and I really wanted to finish one, lol.

I agree, it is good to see Netflix getting more into the kdrama game again. I really hope they get more consistent with getting some of the newer ones though, especially from places like tvN. I’m still here hoping The Crowned Clown gets picked up. A drama like that should do well and needs a home 🙂

Just wanted to let you know that Viki has officially picked up The Crowned Clown. So a big yay to that 🙂
