Goblin Korean Drama - Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun

Wow! Goblin went out with a bang with its final episodes in Nielsen drama ratings! The fantasy melodrama starring Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook, Yoo In Na, and Yook Sung Jae aired three episodes this week. Each episode set a new series high.

First, it reached 16% for episode 14 on Friday. It then aired its final two episodes back to back on Saturday. Episode 15 brought in 16.9%. It then reached an impressive 18.7% for episode 16.

When factoring in ratings across other platforms, Goblin officially became tvN’s highest rated drama of all time beating the previous record set by Reply 1988.

What an amazing feat! Goblin just continued to break one record after another throughout its run, and it cemented its place as the top rated cable drama in its last episode. A big congratulations to the cast and crew for all of their hard work and for achieving such success!

Goblin is a fantasy romance about a modern day goblin (Gong Yoo) who wants to end his immortal life and needs a human bride (Kim Go Eun) to do so.  He ends up living with a grim reaper (Lee Dong Wook) who has amnesia.  The drama tells the story of the lives of those that see the souls of the dead to the afterlife. I’m pleased that the show reached their goal of being the stop rated cable drama. In the first special episode, they specifically stated they hoped to achieve that.

I’m so glad they reached their goal too! It was a fun ratings journey to follow, and I was hoping they would come out on top. It’s pretty easy to see why such a lovely show won over so many fans across the world 🙂
