Hong Jong Hyun (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Goryeo) has been offered a role in the new sageuk The King Loves starring Im Shi Wan (Misaeng) and Yoona (The K2). The King Loves is about an ambitious and conflicted crown prince (Im Shi Wan) in the Goryeo era who is looking to conquer. He falls in love with the daughter (Yoona) of the richest man in the nation and ends up in a tragic love triangle with her and his close friend.

Hong Jong Hyun is up for the role of the prince’s friend, making him the third member of our love triangle. I’m still extremely interested in this tragic love story set in the Goryeo era. It sounds like it’s going to be full of angsty goodness, and that makes me excited.

The King Loves is looking to air sometime in 2017.

I love Hong Jong Hyun. So, The King Loves tells the story about love triangle?

Yes, a love triangle is supposed to be one of the main focuses. It definitely has me interested 🙂

I like the casting of Hong Kong Hyun based on what I saw in Scarlet Heart Ryeo. I am not as positive about Yoona based on what I saw in the K2. Granted her character was a pawn so there wasn’t much substance.

I’m hoping he accepts too. I think Yoona needs a character really made for her. I really liked her in Love Rain where she was more of a sweet, happy, normal girl. But I completely agree about her in The K2. The character itself was written without a lot of depth, and Yoona didn’t quite have the range to add any to the character in her portrayal.

I think as long as her character in The King Loves is written decently, she will be fine, but it will also help if she gets to be more fun and sweet since I think that suits her better.

I am still looking for a good period piece. I was watching Bridal Mask, but unfortunately I was watching it on Dramafever, where the quality was horrible. At the end I had to stop watching. Real shame because what I have seen so far it is an awesome show. Viki has it blocked for my reason. Well luckily I now have Goblin, but I am still looking for an historic drama this one has a great storyline by the way, but it is still a ways off. Keeping it on my radar for next year though 😀

Is the DramaFever app really buggy for you? I have a lot of problems with it, but it does a lot better on certain devices, so I just have to find the one its working on at the time. But you should seriously hunt that drama down if you can’t get it to work, lol. It’s too good not to see.

I’ve been really wanting to watch another historical, so I just started Warrior Baek Dong Soo a couple days ago and am enjoying it so far. One of my favorite historicals is Empress Ki, but you might want to run away since its 51 episodes, hehe. It’s completely worth it though. If you want something shorter, the recent dramas Scarlet Heart Goryeo or Moonlight Drawn By Clouds were both good. Each different just depending what you’re looking for. Iljimae is a fun classic drama too.

I’m really looking forward to both The King Loves and Ruler: Master of the Mask though 🙂

Yes, there are times when it works perfectly (I saw the Story of a Man in it’s entirety on Dramafever, but Bridal Mask I just can’t get to work properly. I will definitely try to hunt it doen, because what I saw was very good. Thanks for all these great recommendations. I am definitely going to watch one of them, will let you know which one 😀

Warrior Baek Dong Soo, Empress Ki, Shine or Go Crazy, ScarletHeartGoryeo and Bridal Mask are all worth watching. Story of a Man was just good drama. Unfortunately I just don’t think Yoona can act or that she deserves the roles she keeps getting. Her so-called step-mothers presence was the standout performance 4 me in K2. Wish I didn’t have 2 pass on The Kings Love, but Yoona spoils it 4 me. Looking 4ward 2 JooWon’s and Oh Yeon Seo’s historical fantasy.

Yes, so many great historicals! I really love the story for The King Loves, so I’ll be checking it out. I mentioned in a comment above that I think Yoona does best when playing sweet and fun characters. Her character was already not written well in The K2, and I don’t think it suited her. Not sure what we’ll get with this one. I’m also really looking forward to Joo Won and Oh Yeon Seo’s drama 🙂

I really hope you are able to find it or get it to work. And yes, definitely let me know which historical you eventually choose. You definitely need to get one of those on your completed list 🙂
