Lee Jong Suk to Star in Korean Drama While You Were Sleeping; Suzy Offered Lead Role

While You Were Sleeping Korean Drama - Lee Jong Suk and Suzy

Well, I’m definitely in! Lee Jong Suk (W-Two Worlds) has been confirmed to be starring in the new drama While You Were Sleeping. While You Were Sleeping is the latest drama from writer Park Hye Run of hit dramas I Hear Your Voice, Pinocchio, and Dream High. Lee Jong Suk previously worked with the writer on I Hear Your Voice and Pinocchio.

While You Were Sleeping is about a woman who sees terrible things that will happen to people in the future through her dreams and a prosecutor who tries to prevent them from happening.

Suzy (Uncontrollably Fond) has been offered the leading role opposite of Lee Jong Suk as our future-seeing heroine. I would be completely fine with Suzy accepting this role as I have always found her pleasant and particularly enjoyed her in her last drama Uncontrollably Fond.

I’m a big fan of this writer and am super excited at the third reunion between her and Lee Jong Suk. I know we will get some fully developed characters with a lot of heart and maybe even a dose of mystery. I love the fantasy premise, and I think Lee Jong Suk and Suzy would be a pretty fun pair.

While You Were Sleeping is looking to air in the first half of 2017.

Update 11/28/16: Suzy has been confirmed to be starring in While You Were Sleeping.

    This sounds a bit like that Tom Cruise movie by Steven Spielberg a couple of years back, Minority Report. This could be fun though 😀

      If you couldn’t already tell, I’m super excited for this one. I have loved everything from this writer, and I also think Lee Jong Suk is at his best playing one of her characters. I also really enjoy the low key fantasy elements. There’s also usually a nice mix of genres with drama, mystery, humor, and romance all wrapped up together. So I have a lot to be excited for!

    I hope suzy does not confirm!
    Because I love everything else about this news. I liked Suzy in Dream high but that’s because that role didn’t require her to emote much…she always leaves me feeling nothing about her character. Can’t they cast someone a lot more better at acting!

      I’m loving everything about this. I know a lot of other people don’t care for Suzy. While there are a few actresses I would choose before her, I’ve always found her decent and really liked her a lot in Uncontrollably Fond. So I’m pretty happy about all of it. And hopefully since Suzy has worked with this writer, the writer can play to her strengths 🙂

    I was so sorry that I could not attend her panel at KCON LA. It would have been a blast. Looking forward to seeing this, while hoping the ending won’t be a meltdown inducing one like Page Turner.

      Yeah, that’s too bad you missed that. Haha, I remember you didn’t care for the Page Turner ending. I liked it and I have liked everything by this writer, so I’m feeling pretty confident going in. I expect well-crafted characters, a solid story, humor, and romance. Should be fun 🙂

    Looking forward to LJS making me fall for another character yet again. I get people’s hesitation regarding Suzy if Dream High is all they have seen her in. I was like that too. But after seeing her in Gu Family Book, you could tell her acting had vastly improved. Plus, LJS has already proven that he has the ability to create chemistry with his co-stars

      Me too! He always has such great and interesting characters, especially with this writer. Luckily, I enjoy Suzy, and she has definitely improved. I thought she was great in in her recent drama Uncontrollably Fond. And yes, Lee Jong Suk usually brings out the best in his co-stars, and I think they will make a great pair 🙂
