   Moonlight Drawn By Clouds is a lovely drama and deserves its success. However, I’m super bummed that it seems to be at the expense of another great drama. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo is also quite wonderful, and Lee Joon Gi is beyond amazing in it.

   I can see how MLSHR shot itself in the foot with its one big flaw–the editing. Most people don’t realize how crucial the editing is to a show, but MLSHR is a case study in how NOT to edit and what bad editing can do to a good show. I really don’t understand how they could have messed up so badly when it was 100% pre-produced and had the backing of a studio like Universal. Trying to recover with those “director’s cut” episodes actually seems to be compounding the problem. What a shame.

      I’m really bummed about it too. I’m genuinely happy for Moonlight’s success and the rising popularity that Park Bo Gum is seeing. But it is sad when another drama suffers because it ended up in the wrong timeslot.

      Oh yes, the editing makes such a huge difference. It can completely alter the flow and mood of the story. It is surprising considering how much time the show had since it was pre-produced. Lee Joon Gi seems to be landing in projects with iffy editors lately. That was a complaint I had about Scholar Who Walks the Night. Especially those early episodes had a very choppy and slightly awkward feel to it despite having an engaging story. Luckily, I can usually still enjoy a show with not so great editing if everything else is working, but it still has an overall effect. It is a shame since Scarlet Heart is such a big budget and highly publicized drama 😦

   HI Kay, 1st time viewing Kdramakisses site, I must say glad I signed-up, now I will not be in the dark, (know nothing), about up-coming Kdrama & your site is fill with needed & useful information.

   I like to post a comment: I was really enjoying Scarlet Heart Ryeo until episode 6, after the episode, I read a posted a comment “about a preview & the outcome of this drama- comparing it with history & facts they found”. I feel that these posted comments with “historical facts” had a big play with this drama rating, not more so than “time slot of airing” (which is printed facts). But after read this why watch the drama; my opinion.

   I felt sorrow for this drama because some of the drama web sites were full of these “posted comments of facts information” as to relate them to the writer & producers ideal. To me a SPOILER for Historical Drama: the mention of Drama with historical events turnout “with history facts comments” influence the “turnabout of the drama plot”; my opinion—

   Some of these historical dramas maybe classified as fictionalized tales based on an actual person & his/her deeds—with fantasy touch added- —This is why most Historical dramas open with lines such as “The following is a fiction “unrelated” to events in history” (not for words for words but similar)-the ones that posted their history comments related to this drama took time to read the open lines they wouldn’t posted those Spoilers- —all above my opinion.

      Hi Cynthia! I’m glad you found your way here and that you find it helpful 🙂

      I agree that it is disappointing when some comments spoil a drama’s outcome by comparing it to history. Especially since Korean historicals frequently follow history loosely.

      And that can definitely ruin a drama for some fans and discourage them from watching. Scarlet Heart is particularly difficult since it does use historical figures as a basis as well as being a remake of a Chinese drama where the outcome is already known. Lots of room for spoilers. It would be nice if more comments posted better spoiler warnings and realized that even historical dramas sometimes deviate from history.

      Although the ratings for Scarlet Heart are low in Korea, at least it is doing well and is very popular in other countries internationally 🙂
