Goblin Korean Drama - Lee Dong Wook

Yes, please!  It looks like the new tvN drama Goblin coming from the writer of Descendants of the Sun, Kim Eun Sook, now has an offer out to Lee Dong Wook (Bubblegum). The role he is being offered is that of the grim reaper who ends up living with Gong Yoo’s (Big) goblin character.

I must say, I like this a lot!  Of course, I would always rather Lee Dong Wook be the lead role, but this part sounds right up his alley.  I can picture him in this so easily.  It should be a main role with the potential for some fun bromance between our two guys.  He would also bring some more star power to the line up as well as seeing a boost for himself.

An offer is also still out to Kim Go Eun (Cheese in the Trap) to play the human bride.  If everyone accepts, this would be quite the fun cast!

Goblin is a fantasy romance about a modern day goblin (Gong Yoo) who wants to end his immortal life and needs a human bride to do so.  He ends up living with a grim reaper who has amnesia.  The drama will tell the story of the lives of those that see the souls of the dead to the afterlife.

Goblin is scheduled to air in November on tvN.

The premise is just hilarious, even though it’s unintentional….a grim reaper has amnesia…pretty much death has forgotten whose time is up won’t that be cool? Cannot wait for this cast of really good actors that EMOTE WELL. Will this be my drama that’ll take me.outta my mini funk?? Let’s hope….

Haha, it is pretty funny! And yes, that’s why I want all of these actors on board because they will really be able to bring out the emotions on a deep level. I hope it rescues you from your drama funk too 🙂

Not sure about this one. I used to follow every LDW drama until Hotel King which was neither here nor there for me. I haven’t finished any of his other shows since. This one seems a departure for his usual characters. Perhaps he is branching out. Jury’s out for me on this one. I’ll wait for your first impression post 😀

I understand that. I’m a fan of the writer, so that always helps going in. And I have loved Lee Dong Wook in everything I have seen him in (just watched My Girl and loved it!). I haven’t seen Hotel King though, and I know there were a lot of mixed reactions to it. I like the makjang sound of it, but I don’t care for the idea of a robotic male lead for most of the drama. But I’ll probably at least give it a peek someday.

It’s kind of funny that my first introduction to Lee Dong Wook was Blade Man! I remember how strange I thought he was, but I thought he fit the character perfectly. And while the latter third of Blade Man got pretty draggy, I actually enjoyed the drama pretty well overall because it was just so crazy and fun, especially in the beginning.

So my first impression of Lee Dong Wook is actually quite a quirky character which is why this role sounded like such a fit in my mind. The roles I have since seen him in are much more serious and normal. But I would love to see him do another character like this 🙂

Haha! Your intro to LDW is the reverse of mine. I started with My Girl and that started my LDW love fest 😄

Lol, I can completely understand how My Girl would start your love fest with Lee Dong Wook. I loved everything about him in it 🙂 I’ve been listening to that soundtrack for weeks now too, hehe.

Oh my gosh! That’s such a catchy sound track. I remember listening to it for the longest time too 🙂
