I Miss You Korean Drama - Park Yoo Chun and Yoon Eun Hye

I Miss You is a melodrama about the first love between two teenagers and their tragic separation. Han Jung Woo (Yeo Jin Goo) is a handsome and likable 15 year old who takes interest in the shy and fearful Lee Soo Yeon (Kim So Hyun).  He befriends her despite the fact that she is bullied and an outcast.

The teenagers feelings quickly begin to progress as their relationship blossoms. Unfortunately, the adults in their lives set in motion a horrible chain of events that results in Soo Yeon disappearing, leaving behind a despondent Jung Woo.

Jung Woo (now played by Park Yoo Chun) spends the next 14 years searching for Soo Yeon (Yoon Eun Hye), before she finally reemerges.  Their reunion is complicated by the fact that Soo Yeon is now with another man, Kang Hyun Joon/Harry (Yoo Seung Ho).  The events from their past also begin to shape their present as a dangerous cat and mouse game ensues.

I Miss You happens to be one of my all time favorite dramas.  The relationship between the teenage versions of Jung Woo and Soo Yeon is absolutely adorable.  Despite the horrible things that happen to him, the adult Jung Woo maintains his charm in his quest to find Soo Yeun.

Also, one of my favorite things about this drama is the love triangle.  In most love triangles, the second lead has kind of a token presence.  Although it is obvious that Jung Woo and Soo Yeon are the main couple, Harry is a major part of Soo Yeon’s life.  I mean they do live together after all, and because of his constant scheming, he poses a genuine threat to Jung Woo and Soo Yeon’s relationship.

Harry is also the kdrama villain that you love to hate.  He genuinely loves Soo Yeon, but ultimately, his obsession with getting revenge on Han Jung Woo’s father pushes him over the edge.  As his hate grows, he just ends up pushing Soo Yeon farther and farther away.  Harry had a shot, but his own actions eventually removed any chance of him holding on to Soo Yeon.

I also love the relationship progression of Jung Woo and Soo Yeon.  It happens in a very believable and gradual way.  At first she hates him because of what he did in the past, but as time goes by, she slowly begins to realize everything he had done for her and that he did really still care for her.  It’s wonderful to see her open up.  The two have wonderful chemistry, and if you like good kisses, there are plenty of them!

For me this drama is almost perfect, but keep in mind, it is a melodrama.  There are plenty of tears in each episode and lots of angst.  But if you’re into all that and you want an intense love triangle with a lot at stake, then this drama is for you.

My Rating: 10/10

I had postponed watching this drama for a long while. It took this post to make me decide to start on it. It was great, though I’m yet to finish…just 3 episodes left and I’m worried I’ve hit the peak. Meaning, I’m OK so far and wouldn’t want to watch a turbulent ending…so sad with Yoo Seung-ho’s character. Because I was totally shipping him and Yoo Eun-hye…lol. Great review!

I’m thrilled you gave it a shot and have enjoyed it! I Miss You is my favorite melodrama. I thought Soo Yeon and Harry were amazing together. I adored Jung Woo, but sometimes I found myself torn. I agree, watching Harry’s character is sad on so many levels. I don’t want to spoil anything, so let me know what you think of the ending. I personally loved the last episode, and I hope you do too 🙂

Yoo Seung Ho indeed is a versatile actor, the way he has played this role is superb. The lead actress was so selfish, so much occupied with her childhood love that she never realizes harry’s love for her. she left Harry(YSH) alone when he needed her the most, all in pain by himself & all she falls in loved with that stupid Han Joo Woo (Micky Yoochun).

Oh yes, Yoo Seung Ho is such a great actor with a wide range of abilities. He was truly fantastic here 🙂 The love triangle in this one was definitely interesting and Harry was a villain that you feel for. One of my all time favorite dramas 🙂
